TANO News
Important notice regarding changes in the Texas Nonprofit Corporation Law, Chapter 22, Texas Business Organizations Code:
Having received several questions about the ramifications of the Texas Business Code Section 22 being automatically applied to all Texas nonprofits on January 1,. 2010, we asked Richard Meyer, an attorney who serves as TANO's Vice-President of Public Policy, to provide general guidance.  In essence, his response, and other material we have reviewed, indicates there is minimal consequence for most Texas nonprofits....
Several years ago, the legislature revised the states corporations laws, including the Texas Nonprofit Corporation Act , which was formerly in Article 1396, Texas Revised Civil Statutes.  A four-year transition period ends on January 1, 2010, when all corporations must comply with the new Business Organizations Code (BOC).  The Texas Nonprofit Corporation Law is now found in Chapter 22 of the BOC.  Nonprofits established before 2006 or during the transition period may, in the normal course of business, be asked to revise certain official corporate documents (such as filings with the Secretary of State) to comply with the code references and new terminology of the BOC.   The changes affecting nonprofit corporations were intended to be non-substantive, although all references to Article 1396 and its subsections should no longer be used. See http://www.sos.state.tx.us/corp/bocfaqs or consult an attorney regarding specific issues.

Idealware logoGetting Photos Ready For Publication (Idealware Software Tip of the Month) - If you want to use a photo in print or on the web, how do you get it ready? A number of free and inexpensive tools like Google Picasa, iPhoto, Adobe Photoshop Express, and Picnik.com can help you to size, adjust and manipulate the photo so it looks just right.
Cropping, (letting you cut out a certain portion of a picture), can help you create more focused and professional-looking images. Many tools also provide color correction capabilities for instance, to boost the color on a washed-out photo or to remove red eye. And you' ll need a software package that can help you size photos so that they'll be the right dimension and of the appropriate quality for print or the web.
